Jesse Hubbard

Jesse is primarily responsible for the everyday maintenance of the Highstead Barn, its surrounding landscape and walking trails. He works behind the scenes, setting up for meetings and events, and also participates in hands-on projects with partners and collaborators.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass and Soil Science (Uconn ’06), Jesse spent some time working as a golf coursehorticulturist where he developed a keener interest in ornamental plants and a real passion for Arboriculture, eventually leading him to Highstead. He is a licensed Arborist and also holds the ISA Certified Arborist credential.

Jesse joined the Highstead Team in the Spring of 2016 and takes pride in knowing that his stewardship and work here helps enable even broader conservation efforts. He is intrigued by the unique ecology on-site and enjoys photographing what he sees to share with others.

“I love working at Highstead because there are various opportunities to bear witness to the amazing flora and fauna here. It is also inspiring to be surrounded by so many like-minded colleagues, collaborators and visitors, who consistently provide me with new insights into the world of ecology and conservation.”
