As Landscapes and Collections Manager, Kathleen is responsible for stewarding Highstead’s cultivated landscapes and the plant collections they support to highlight their natural beauty, promote conservation of native species and natural habitats, and serve as a model of sound land stewardship practices. She has an appreciation of the ecological and spiritual dimensions of nature and hopes to help others preserve and care for the natural world. Kathleen also provides staff support in record-keeping, research, and communications, education, and outreach activities.
Prior to joining the Highstead team in 2002, Kathleen worked in the landscaping and forest industries in various capacities. More recently, she was instrumental in facilitating the accreditation of Providence Arboretum at Genesis Spiritual Life and Conference Center in Westfield, MA, where she volunteers.
Kathleen has a Master’s in Environmental Studies from Antioch University New England; B.S. degrees in Landscape Design & Horticulture from UConn, and Forestry from Unity College; and an A.S. in Park Management & Design. She is an avid reader of ecospirituality books, enjoys kayaking, gardening, and nature walks.
